Become a Trustee at The Art Station

We are looking for proactive, energetic trustees for our dynamic and ambitious arts organisation and charity located in the rural market town Saxmundham in East Suffolk. Be part of our fun and friendly busy team who are delivering an exciting programme.

The Art Station is an arts charity supporting the development of contemporary creative practice in Saxmundham, a rural market town in coastal Suffolk. Having completed a major refurbishment of the first floor of a former 1950’s telephone exchange and post office in 2020, The Art Station’s unique venue has now become a base for a dynamic and engaging arts and learning programme for the community and creative practitioners.   See https://theartstation.uk/  We  support creatives to develop their careers through providing a network, affordable space and volunteering, work placements, work experience and employment; all offering access to the creative industries.

We’re especially looking for trustees from any of the minority communities who are under represented  within trustee boards including: people under 40 and women, and preferably with expertise in the following – legal, financial, fundraising and communications.

Time commitment – 12 days per year, meetings every 2/3 months plus offering 1 day a month minimum between meetings. Currently four trustees on the board.

We can pay reasonable travel expenses for anyone on a low income.

As a trustee you will be supporting the management roles, the development of the organisation and the other trustees. You don’t need to have been a previous trustee, just have a commitment to the organisation.

Meetings are face to face when possible. We would prefer trustees to be local or Suffolk based or to have a strong connection with Suffolk.
