Loula Yorke (2021) 'SNOW DAY'

‘Snow Day’ freezes in time 8 minutes in the life of the artist and her 9 year old daughter. Using a mixture of sound, processed video footage and an installation that reimagines the architecture of The Art Station as a domestic space, the audience is transported to the back door of the artist’s home in Saxtead Green, Suffolk, just after lunch on the 8th February 2021. This multimedia piece draws together ideas from a variety of places: the practice of reanimating cultural heritage sites; analogue video synthesis and vintage image processing; and, the ethos that lies at the heart of deep listening, taking time with a single field recording ‘just to see what happens’.

Loula Yorke is a live artist and composer who uses sound, video and participation to create noisy artworks. Yorke runs synth-building and performance workshops Atari Punk Girls and is a 2020-21 Oram Award Winner.
