Frances Brennan (2021) 'PETRICHOR'

In her own words, 2020 and 2021 led Frances to concentrate on the satisfaction she acquired through her work. There was no audience, therefore risks could be taken and decisions made that normally would have required constant review with the question of “how will this be seen by another pair of eyes?”. Her paintings were all completed in the strange privacy of a lockdown world and bring a kind of purity she has not found before. Taking her process from paper to canvas, using acrylic paint as watercolour, has culminated in PETRICHOR.

Frances trained at Camberwell College of Art (1999). Her artwork has been exhibited internationally, from Rochester Art Gallery in Kent and the Crafts Council in London, to the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands and Handwerksmesse in Munich.
