Saxmundham Christmas Fayre : Christmas Light switch-on 4.30pm!

Join us for the opening of our winter exhibition; Animal, Vegetable, Mineral
Launching this Friday December 2nd running until the end of January. Showing work and objects from artists based both locally and further afield, as well as pieces produced during recent creative workshops with groups in Saxmundham.
The show is curated by artists Annabel Dover and Karen Densham and is inspired by the 1952 game show Animal, Vegetable, Mineral where a panel of experts were asked to describe and classify an artefact of unknown origin. These artefacts were sometimes fake, sometimes modern and sometimes with an unknown origin.

Our artist in residence Theo Alexander, recipient of the Art Station / Britten Pears Arts residency will be showcasing his work with two performances. Follow the sounds and sights throughout Animal, Vegetable, Mineral and allow them to guide you up through the exhibition to our large exhibition space.
Performance times: 6.30pm & 7.30pm

Art Station Film will also be screening a selection of short artists’ films, all of which are working directly with the material of film whether direct hand painted films, paper cut out animation or composing visual music from the optical soundtrack. The collection of beautiful handmade films selected by Emily Richardson will be looped throughout the evening.

Friday December 2nd is a big night for Saxmundham with the annual Christmas Fayre taking place throughout the town between 4-8pm. The high street will be filled with stalls, street performers, music, food, drink, Father Christmas and lights!
