Sax Flags 2022

Saxmundham celebrates the 750th anniversary of becoming a market town this year – coinciding with the Platinum Jubilee and a return to relative post-Covid normality, this summer will be a time to enjoy and acknowledge the town’s role as a hub of creativity, community and culture.

The Art Station is working with Saxmundham Town Council to install 75 flags along Saxmundham High Street, featuring flags designed by local artists, community groups, schools and organisations.

The new artist’s flags will be flown alongside a collection of Union Jacks and Ukrainian national flags already in place – providing the perfect celebratory backdrop for this year’s national events, including the Jubilee Big Lunch on Sunday 5th June, during which The Art Station will be delivering flag making workshops to attendees at their tables.

A subsequent exhibition of new and existing artist flags will be on display at The Art Station later this year. Please check back for details.

Be a part of the celebration!
