Join us to hear Rebecca Riess talk about her current exhibition Scenes From A Place Called World, in conversation with Dr Susan Barnet, BA Fine Art Course Leader at University of Suffolk.
Saturday 29th March at 2pm, The Art Station, IP17 1AB
Riess’s approach is to make first and think later, analysing her work during down time. She has established a prolific multidisciplinary practice including sculpture, drawing, stitching and painting. These mediums are intertwined, and the result is symbiotic.
Painting is Riess’s driving force for understanding the world, and she considers painting most like writing. Initially her process is immediate with a need to be rhythmic, to dance, to activate, and free flow, which is how a painting is broken in. Once this burst of energy subsides a deep form of analysis begins.
