Inside Out

The Art Station is excited to launch Inside Out — a year-long wellbeing programme for Years 4–6 in local primary schools in and around Saxmundham. 

Led by experienced yoga teacher Jo King, this inspiring project blends yoga, mindfulness, nature, and creativity to support children’s emotional and mental wellbeing. Through breathwork, movement, and regular practice, children build confidence, manage emotions, and reduce anxiety. 

Creative activities like art and storytelling encourage self-expression, while group sessions help strengthen social skills and connections. 

Inside Out is all about nurturing resilience, self-awareness, and wellbeing through engaging, screen-free experiences — helping children feel calmer, more confident, and better equipped for everyday challenges.

Our in-school Inside Out after-school club and Art Station Garden sessions create a nurturing space where children are encouraged to slow down, tune inward, and build awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. Through guided breathwork, gentle yoga, and mindful movement, children learn simple, practical techniques to regulate their emotions and feel more grounded.

These inner experiences are then expressed outwardly through creative and nature-based activities, including art, storytelling, and sensory exploration. This process helps children communicate feelings in ways that feel natural and accessible, strengthening emotional literacy and confidence.

Set within a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment, sessions are designed to create a sense of belonging, calm, and connection. Children are supported to work both independently and collaboratively, building positive peer relationships and trust.

Time spent in The Art Station Garden further deepens this experience, offering opportunities to connect with nature, engage the senses, and enjoy moments of reflection. Together, these elements support self-awareness, resilience, and a greater sense of emotional balance.
