Heritage in Young Hands will offer a week of traditional craft and artisan sessions from Monday 24th – Friday 28th August 2026
Monday – Friday 9.00 am – 3.00 pm
Monday to Thursday: children aged 7-12
Friday: teenagers aged 13-18

BOOK HEREThe workshops will be high-energy, full-day creative sessions led by professional local artists.
Through these workshops, children will explore traditional heritage crafts with exciting, practical projects. We want them to take something tangible home meaning activities could include foraging in the garden to make cyanotype sun prints, plant-dyeing textiles, folk painting on wood, willow weaving and leather stamping.
Heritage in Young Hands sessions are designed to link directly to our gallery exhibition, Local Yokel, by connecting to the land around us, and using local folklore and stories to build confidence, teamwork, and identity.
Monday 24th August – Thursday 17th August, from 9.00 AM – 3.00 PM in The Art Station Garden
Cost: FREE* and including a heathy lunch**
* Each place is fully funded but we will be prioritising children eligible for free school meals or facing rural isolation.

These full-day sessions are a fantastic way for children to stay active, learn unique hands-on skills, and have fun in a safe outdoor space during the summer holidays.

BOOK HEREA full-day, hands-on creative workshop delivered in partnership with the brilliant Eastern Angles Theatre Company.
In this Heritage in Young Hands session, we will be moving completely away from dry history. Instead, the day uses professional storytelling, theatre, and creative performance techniques to explore local stories, identity, and folklore. It connects to our gallery exhibition, Local Yokel, giving teens a space to reflect on modern rural life, build confidence, and have a voice.
