Relax and sit back on the bus as Art Station takes you on this summer’s unmissable tour of contemporary art, navigating the beautiful East Suffolk landscape from Saxmundham to Lowestoft. We had such good feedback from last year’s tour that we decided to do it again!
The tour takes you to four different contemporary art venues and includes talks by artists at each stop: DIRTY WORK Art Station’s two part exciting exhibition of contemporary ceramics – Part ONE at Art Station’s building in Saxmundham – the iconic 1956 telephone exchange where Director Clare Palmier will talk about William Cobbing’s curation of diverse ceramics work by artists showing internationally including Anne Wenzel, Linda Sormin, Caroline Achaintre, Urara Tschiya, Salvatore Arancio, Markus Karstiess, Gereon Krebber, William Cobbing.
The tour will then travel to DIRTY WORK Part TWO in Framlingham at the Old Theatre ( early 1900s Assembly Hall) where artist Richard Oliver will talk about his work and where you’ll be able to respond to Clare Twomey’s invitation to help her finish her inspiring large scale paper and porcelain installation Archive of Presence and also see work by Karen Densham and Ali Hewson.
Next stop the tour journeys North to Halesworth where we will be met by Laurence Edwards at his foundry where he will talk about the lost wax process he uses in bronze casting and see how and where the work takes place including the making of the now famous local 26 foot Yoxman sculpture.
Our last stop will be 303 projects in Lowestoft an exciting new gallery space opened last year by artist/curator Alex Costello. We will be arriving for the opening of a new exhibition by artist Paul Dash
Due to the rail strike( trains on/off/replacement service), we’ve booked our own private bus for this year’s tour! You just have to book in and turn up and we’ll do the rest to offer you an interesting and stimulating day with the opportunity for some chat and new connections.
