Art Station Film is back for 2023!

Art Station Film is a monthly film event showing artists’ film and moving image, programmed by filmmaker Emily Richardson in conjunction with exhibitions in the gallery.

January edition screening: The Way Things Go, Fischli and Weiss, films by Inger Lise Hansen and Jan Svankmajer.

Friday 27th January, 7pm

The life of objects in these films tie in brilliantly with the continuing exhibition of artists artefacts and objects at the Art Station Animal Vegetable Mineral curated by Annabel Dover and Karen Densham.

The Way Things Go, Fischli and Weiss. Inside a warehouse, artists Fischli and Weiss build a precarious 100 foot long structure from common household items which with pure physics and chemistry create a spectacular chain reaction, a self destructive performance, pure chaos.

Inger Lise Hansen’s early films animate everyday objects in the landscape in a way that exposes processes of decay and transformation. Using time lapse combined with stop motion animation on 16mm film these works speak to the marching nature of time and our eventual extinction.

Jan Svankmajer is a Czech animator whose enormous body of surrealist stop motion films made over many decades have been hugely influential to artists and filmmakers alike.
