Art in a Bag is an Art Station project commissioned by a group of community organisations across Saxmundham, Aldeburgh and Leiston and funded by East Suffolk Community Partnerships.
Artist Helen Rousseau has developed a series of intergenerational creative activities creating dialogue between older people in Saxmundham, Aldeburgh and Leiston and pupils from Snape and Saxmundham Primary Schools through supportive discussion and assistance with local volunteers.
For the winter 2020 phase of the project Saxmundham Primary School created Christmas cards, decorated poems and questions they wanted to ask the elders. These were delivered together with Art in a Bag materials and activities to the elders by volunteers who support the elders to develop further activities in spring 2021.
The aim of the project is to offer connection through creative activities and to support social connections that will continue to develop locally.
