Our education programme will be restarting in Autumn 2020 – and we’ll be offering some exciting new sessions – taking into account any current social distancing needs and health and safety procedure.
The Art Station offers art education as an experience which links people to different methods, practices, ideas and technology; and as a means of expression which enables a feeling of empowerment, self-worth and identity. Everyone achieves something within a session, experiences art practice and ways of seeing and making. Sessions can also build a social network and a knowledge of the development of the Art Station as a resource for the community and an asset for the town.
We delivered art sessions to the community from June 2017, working with local primary and secondary schools, and ran school holiday sessions and workshops for all ages. Those taking part were actively engaged, interested and enthusiastic and enjoyed the sessions. The summer sessions were heavily oversubscribed and clearly indicate a demand for more. Positive feedback came from teachers, parents, students and the general public.
“WE ARE DELIGHTED TO BE TAKING PART IN SOME INITIAL ARTS PROJECTS WITH YOUR EDUCATORS. IT WILL BE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR YEAR 3&4 CHILDREN TO WORK WITH ARTISTS/ POETS IN SCHOOL.
A HUGE THANK YOU FOR A GREAT AFTERNOON. LOVELY TO DO SOMETHING FREETHINKING. JUSTIN WAS FANTASTIC AND THE CHILDREN SAID THEY REALLY ENJOYED IT. ITS SO GOOD FOR POETRY AND WORDS TO COME ALIVE IN FRONT OF THEM LIKE THAT. PLUS THE WRITING TECHNIQUES HE DISCUSSED ARE EXACTLY WHAT WE TEACH THIS AGE GROUP.”HELEN EVANS – HEAD OF ART, SAXMUNDHAM PRIMARY SCHOOL
